Fix an SPF record with too many lookups

SPF allows ten DNS lookups. Past that, receivers return a permanent error and may reject your mail. Flatten includes or drop unused senders.

Why this matters

Your SPF record needs too many DNS lookups (over the 10-lookup limit). Some receivers will throw a permerror and may reject your emails.

Cloudflare

  1. 1 Go to DNS > Records and edit your SPF TXT record
  2. 2 Reduce DNS-resolving mechanisms (include, a, mx, redirect) to 10 or fewer
  3. 3 Replace include: chains with ip4:/ip6: ranges where possible
# DNS-resolving mechanisms (each costs 1 lookup):
# include, a, mx, ptr, exists, redirect

# Non-DNS mechanisms (zero lookups):
# all, ip4, ip6

# Example: replace include:provider.com with ip4:203.0.113.0/24
